GUNR Terms of Service

1. Introduction

Welcome to GUNR. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and GUNR, a South African company ("we", "us", "our").

These Terms govern your use of our website at gunr.app and our mobile applications — GUNR, DOPE, and Cost of Reloading (collectively the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. The Service relates to firearms, and by using it you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

2. The Service

GUNR provides digital tools for firearms owners:

  • GUNR — firearms inventory management, activity logging, load testing, recipes, licence tracking, CSV import, and PDF export
  • DOPE — digital ballistics notebook with range conditions, windage and elevation tracking, weather data, and GPS
  • Cost of Reloading — ammunition reloading cost calculator with cost-per-round analysis and factory ammunition comparison

Important: GUNR is a data management tool. It is not a replacement for professional firearms safety training, legal advice, or official ballistic data. Always follow your local firearms laws and safety practices.

3. Accounts

To use the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information when registering
  • Keep your account credentials secure and not share them with anyone
  • Notify us immediately at hello@gunr.app if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
  • Maintain only one account per person

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. We may terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

The Service offers both free and premium features. GUNR Pro is a single subscription that unlocks premium features across all three apps.

  • Subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store
  • Billing, renewals, and cancellations are handled by your app store — not by us directly
  • RevenueCat manages subscription state across iOS and Android platforms
  • Refunds are subject to Apple and Google's respective refund policies
  • We may change pricing with reasonable notice; existing subscriptions are honoured until their next renewal date

To cancel your subscription, use the subscription management settings in your Apple App Store or Google Play Store account.

5. Your Content

You retain full ownership of all data you create in the apps — your firearms records, ballistic data, reloading calculations, and any other content you enter.

You grant GUNR a limited licence to store, process, back up, and display your data to you — solely to operate the Service. We do not claim any rights to your content beyond what is necessary to provide the Service.

You are responsible for ensuring that the content you store complies with your local laws and regulations, including firearms regulations.

6. Data Export and Portability

You can export your data as PDF or CSV at any time from within the apps. Your data is never held hostage.

If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently and immediately removed from our systems. See our Privacy Policy for full data retention details.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Store data related to illegal firearms activity
  • Attempt to access other users' data or accounts
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access the Service
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful code
  • Attempt to overload, disrupt, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
  • Use the Service to harm, exploit, or endanger minors

8. Intellectual Property

The GUNR brand, code, design, and website content are our property or used with permission. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our written consent.

Your content (firearms data, ballistic records, reloading data) belongs to you. We claim no intellectual property rights over your content.

Copyright Complaints

If you believe that content on the Service infringes your copyright, submit a notice to hello@gunr.app with the subject line "Copyright Infringement" including:

  1. A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
  2. The URL or location of the allegedly infringing material
  3. Your contact information (name, address, email, phone number)
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised
  5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf
  6. Your electronic or physical signature

9. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services including Google (Firebase), RevenueCat, OpenWeather, SendGrid, and others. These are listed in full in our Privacy Policy.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or terms of third-party services. Your use of features that rely on third-party services is also subject to those providers' terms.

If you download the apps from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, the respective store's terms also apply.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Without limiting the above:

  • We do not guarantee the accuracy of ballistic calculations, cost calculations, or weather data provided through the Service
  • GUNR is not a legal compliance tool — do not rely on it as your sole record for firearms licensing or regulatory compliance
  • We are not responsible for data loss resulting from user error, although we provide backup and restore functionality
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service

THE FOREGOING DOES NOT AFFECT ANY WARRANTIES THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GUNR'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

IN NO EVENT SHALL GUNR BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, HOWEVER CAUSED AND ON ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY.

SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES. IN SUCH JURISDICTIONS, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE GREATEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.

If a dispute arises, we encourage you to contact us first at hello@gunr.app to attempt an informal resolution. Most issues can be resolved quickly without formal proceedings.

If informal resolution is not successful:

  • South African users: Disputes will be resolved in the courts of South Africa
  • International users: You agree to the jurisdiction of the South African courts, except where your local law provides mandatory consumer protections that cannot be waived

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised Terms on this page and update the effective date above.

For material changes, we will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice within the Service before the change takes effect.

Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Service.

14. General

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and GUNR regarding the Service.

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision.
